This book was impossible to set down, the story takes some unexpected twist that made it very intriguing. The plot is basic with subtle complexities that keep you enthralled. The book seemed to have a slightly romantic tone, as it follows the path of a Hebrew girl in ancient Egypt, and a young Egyptian officer. There is the young girl, the young man, the villain, the double cross, the prison island, ransom and extortion, and something a little like mutiny. All this from the perspective of the Egyptians. The story takes place during the Hebrew occupation of Egypt, it gave me a whole new perspective on the Egyptians, the land of Egypt, the Hebrews and the more classic story of the Exodus.
